It does not work!!!! Project does not have an ELF file!!!!! I tried to do what corollary said and my project was already added to NIOSII build. I have heard that this problem has to do with the version of quartus, I am using quartus II version 13.0 web edition. I will appreciate some help please. Thanks in advance
The last version that supports Cyclone II fpga architecture is Quartus 13.0sp1. That version does not support the Cyclone V architecture. All quartus versions that support Cyclone V do not support Cyclone II. So unfortunately there is not one Quartus version that supports both fpga architecutures.
The installation directory is /opt/altera/13.0sp1. You do not need to install the Arria, Cyclone V and MAX device support. Choose the ModelSim-Altera Starter Edition (Free). The Help files are optional.
Altera's Quartus tools include some special software to downloadbitstreams to their devices over USB (a DE-2 eval board, in my case). They require some tricky work to set up properly on Fedora - my dev hostof choice. But you're in luck! I've packaged up an RPM that takes careof this extra work for you. It creates a udev rule to set up theUSB-Blaster properly when you plug in your USB JTAG connection. It alsoprovides a service wrapper for Altera's jtagd daemon and moves some ofAltera's data files around so things just work. The sources are inmoxiedev, but I've posted the binary and source RPMs here forconvenience: Be sure to read the docs in/usr/share/doc/moxie-quartus-altera-1 once installed. It assumes thatyou've already installed Quartus II on your box (they don't package inRPM format, unfortunately). 2b1af7f3a8
