February 2018 marks the 23rd anniversary of the Australian Hardware Market Review – the last time that a comprehensive survey of the hardware market was undertaken by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS).
We have just completed the latest update of the review, and in the report “Hardware Market Review, 2017–2026”, released earlier this year we forecast that the Australian hardware industry will continue to grow slowly in the coming years. The annual average growth rate over the next five years will be about 1.5% per year.
In contrast, the overall Australian economy is expected to grow by an average of 4.9% per year over the same period.
